The Hoi An Cultural Heritage Preservation and Management Center has launched a new website featuring the ancient town as UNESCO-recognised World Heritage site.

Website http://hoianheritage.net also provides information on Hoi An, one of Vietnam’s most popular tourist locations.

Hoi An City is part of the central province of Quang Nam. It is about 30 kilometers south of Danang City – central Vietnam’s hub.

The website includes information on Cu Lao Cham or Cham Island, a world biosphere reserve off Hoi An.

Hoi An’s cultural heritage includes ancient private and community houses, pagodas, temples, assembly halls, bridges, wells, mausoleums, craft villages, festivals, rituals and other tangible and intangible values.

In June this year, Hoi An established a network of cultural preservation supporters, with more than 30 volunteer workers joining. They are supposed to keep people informed about the nation’s heritage laws and mobilize them to rebuild and restore the old quarter, according to Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung, director of the Hoi An Culture Heritage Preservation and Management Center.

They also act as intermediaries between the general public and local authorities to facilitate communications so that Government agencies can effectively support local preservation efforts.
