Hoi An establishes heritage network

HOI AN — A network of cultural preservation advocates has been established in the city of Hoi An, a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage site in the central province of Quang Nam.

The 33 workers will keep people informed about the nation’s heritage laws and mobilise them to rebuild and restore the old quarter, according to Nguyen Chi Trung, director of the Hoi An Culture Heritage Management and Preservation Centre.

They will also act as intermediaries between laymen and the authorities, facilitating communication so that Government agencies can effectively support local preservation efforts.
