Pacific Islands World Heritage Workshop 2009

This workshop, which is a follow-up to the previous Pacific Islands World Heritage Workshop held in Cairns, Australia, in 2008, is for heritage officials and experts in the Pacific Islands countries/territories.

The objectives of this workshop are to:

1. Build capacity and skills in the preparation of the World Heritage nomination file for cultural and natural heritage;

2. Prepare the implementation of the second cycle of the Periodic Reporting

3. Review the implementation situation of the Pacific 2009 Programme, and to prepare the next medium-term action plan (Action Plan Pacific 2010-2015);

4. Discuss the future establishment of the sustainable funding arrangements for heritage conservation in the Pacific.

It is co-organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, together with the City Council of Maupiti, with the financial support of the World Heritage Fund, the Australian Funds-in-Trust, the Pacific Fund of France and the Oceania Football Confederation.
